Education and Teacher Training

NYSE Euronext conducts educational programs throughout the year. Student groups and classes come for “floor tours” to see the financial markets in action and learn more about their fundamentals. In 2010, over 150 educational seminars and tours were conducted for more than 4,000 students in New York and Paris. For those who can’t make the trip, in 2011 we hosted a “virtual field trip” in which over 50,000 students participated “live” via the internet and had a chance to “tour” our floor and participate in a question-and-answer session with our CEO, Duncan Niederauer.

This summer, we launched a teacher scholarship program to cover travel, lodging and other expenses for teachers from under-resourced schools.  After a competitive process, 45 teachers from 23 different states were selected to receive teacher training scholarships.  Of these teachers, 89% hail from Title I schools.  In the first year alone, these teachers expect to take back what they've learned to over 6,500 students, as well as to fellow teachers throughout their schools, districts and states.
